A few days ago, Japan invented polyester fibers with excellent flame retardancy and anti-dripping.
The fiber is made of polytetrafluoroethylene and a flame-retardant polyester containing an average molecular weight of 1,000,000 or more, and is made of fibers that are excellent in flame retardancy without generating droplets upon combustion. The fiber does not generate toxic gases when burned, and has excellent spinnability and mechanical properties. The flame retardant used in the present invention is an organic phosphatized compound having two functions, and its content is more than 300 ppm of phosphorus atoms. The PTFE used in the present invention is essentially a PTFE homopolymer, and the common PTFE copolymer component contains Ethylene fluoride, fluorinated polyvinylidene fluoride fiber, perfluoropropylene, perfluoroethylene and other ethylenically unsaturated monomers. Due to the copolymerization of these materials, the performance of PTFE homopolymers with high crystallinity is low, and the fibers have poor anti-dripping effect when burned. From this point of view, the use of PTFE homopolymers that do not contain these copolymerization components, the molecular size is preferably over 1 million to 10 million, and the content of PTFE in the polyester is 0.02% to 2.0% by weight. It is preferable that 0.05 to 1.0 wt% of PTFE have an average particle diameter of 30 μm or less.
