Milliken Chemical Company of the United States introduced ClearShield, a UV absorber for PET bottles. This product is a homogeneous liquid polymer that is specially used for PET packaging and can block all ultraviolet rays within a wavelength of 390nm. The product is easy to use and can be used directly without further compounding into a liquid or solid masterbatch. It can be added together with the resin during molding or during the preforming stage.
When ClearShield's PET is added, injection molding and blow molding do not produce fouling of the equipment and delay production time. This product is a transparent polymer that does not affect the transparency, gloss, and bottle quality of PET bottles. It has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is suitable for most food and beverage packaging.
