German scientists develop new fireproof materials

German scientists have recently developed a new type of fireproof material made from raw materials such as plant cellulose. Compared with currently used asbestos fireproof materials, the new materials not only have better fireproof effects, but also are easy to use and have no chemical toxicity.
A press release issued by the Fraunhofer Society, a renowned German research organization for applied technology, said that the association’s scientist Wolfgang Chris has added some non-flammable special minerals to the plant cellulose extracted from used paper. Materials, mixed in a specific ratio, make this new type of fireproof material. Scientists said that although cellulose itself is flammable, the non-combustible components in the fire retardant material gradually melt in the face of the flame, and the mixed cellulose forms the same protection as a “coat” between the object to be protected and the flame. Floor. Moreover, as the temperature rises, the protective layer becomes harder and plays a role in stable insulation.
Chris said that this new type of fire retardant material is easy to use and can be applied directly to the surface of the object to be protected by spraying and can immediately function. In addition, asbestos fire-retardant materials commonly used at present have certain chemical toxicity, and will be banned from use in Germany and the European Union. Therefore, new materials are expected to gain broad market space.
