US Crompton company develops new PVC stabilizer

Newly launched in Connecticut, USA, two soft metal mixed heat stabilizers (Mark 4847 and Mark 4853) for soft PVC, featuring low phenol release, adapted to reduce the yellowing of transparent PVC products and improve indoor air quality.
Mark 4847 is a barium-zinc (Ba-Zn) heat stabilizer with low phenol content. Dedicated to soft PVC products requiring extremely high processing stability and maintaining the initial color, the outstanding advantage is that the prepared transparent PVC sheet does not have the “white spots produced by condensation of water vapor”, and is suitable for the top windows of ship windows and active vehicles. The calendering rolls do not produce scale during production and processing. Moreover, Mark 4847 is said to have a good synergistic effect with UV (ultraviolet) absorbers, unlike ordinary UV absorbers such as benzotriazole which react with phenolic compounds to cause yellowing of the product and have poor efficacy. In addition, the coating used as a transparent wire does not produce a patina.
Another bismuth-zinc thermal stabilizer, Mark 4853, is a new generation of PVC heat stabilizers for general injection molding, extrusion and tape casting. It has a low organic volatile material (VOC) and its application target is a PVC interior wall protection board. Low phosphite content and low phenol emissions during processing. Crompton is planning to develop a low phosphite calcium-zinc (Ca-Zn) type stabilizer that can compensate for the lack of performance due to low phosphite content.
