The researchers said that the difficulty of this technology is how to make the coating material and the glass surface combine for a long time. They first applied multiple layers of special molecular materials on the glass surface and used it as a base layer. This base layer showed strong adhesion. Then they applied anti-fog material on it.
The researchers claim that the existing anti-fog coatings can't withstand cleaning, so they need to be applied frequently, and the new coating technology only needs to be applied once. Professor La Roche said that they are discussing the patent transfer of this new anti-fog coating technology with a large eyewear manufacturer.
