RPC Containers Llantrisant is now producing standard polyester juice bottles containing 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) ingredients. Dean Williams, a designer of PRC, commented: “The quality of the bottle produced by the company containing 30% post-consumer recycled content is exactly the same as that using 100% original polyester material, so we feel that this product is used as a standard. The right time has come for the market. This reflects the growing demand for recycled components in the plastic packaging sector."
He added that the next challenge is to increase the percentage of post-consumer recycled content to 50%. Setting this goal can be attributed to the installation of a new device, a single-stage polyester processor. The Aoki 350 is the eighth of its kind purchased by the PRC company.
