Keen Software House, the developer of the game Space Engineers, has partnered with BinaryNow and FORGE 3D Printing to launch Space Engineers Prints. This service allows gamers to print 3D spaceships designed in their own games.

This game is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and maintenance in space. The game uses a real volume-related physics engine where all the items in the game can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. In the game, players will build spaceships and space stations of different functions (civil or military) and size, as well as spaceships and asteroid mineral collection.

“We used a realistic full-color 3D plastic printer to bring the spacecraft model into the real world from virtual games.” BinaryNow founder and CEO Premysl Pech said: “We turned the spaceship or Other items created by the players in the game into Entity, touchable objects that inspire the player's creativity."

BinaryNow uses the Projet 4500, a full-color plastic 3D printer from 3D Systems, to print these spaceships. With a resolution of up to 600 x 600 dpi, the Projet 4500 prints details up to 0.004 inches.

The space engineer print service began on October 6, 2014. A full-color, grainy boat costs $80. Users need to run the game in creative mode and need to manually upload the ship file to be printed to the website.

In the beginning, the service will only be tested and run between US players and will only be available for small spacecraft. Later this year, support for large spacecraft and other objects will be increased, and service users will be extended to Canada and elsewhere.

“In addition to launching new shapes and developing space engineers, we have been considering other ways to satisfy our players. The idea of 3D printing their work has been in our minds for a long time.” Keen Software House Chief Executive Officer and founder Marek Rosa said: "We are very happy to think of a beautiful 3D printing spacecraft created in a space engineer that can decorate someone else's room."
